I sit here in Starbucks with this free wireless internet connection looking at all the different people that walk by. People of all colours, dress, language and I assume religion. What puzzles me most is - why do we get along? Now, I'm sure there are millions of other people all around the world that are "getting along", so what is it that keeps us from hauling off and smacking someone in the head? Is it morals, rituals, common sense (doesn't seem so common these days) or is it laws?
It goes back a long way. A really long way. Many people use the phrase "reason to live" or "purpose in life" to give our "reason" for existance some validity. In fact, our raison d'etre, or more specifically our motivation, is really quite simple. Survival - The ability to stay alive. We make this choice everyday. It also seems intrinsic that most of us prefer to be happy and sad. The fact that people realize aspects of thier existance - and how it affects others - proves that we CAN make a difference in this troubled world. It is quite evident that peoples of the world must be educated - educated with knowledge that is fact based and not merely here-say. This is one of the most important steps needed to open the doors to humanity's endless potential (until the meteor hits earth and decimates all life on the planet):)
Cheers,
FMF
