About: Brian Flemming's Weblog

I guess I could give the guy and his work a plug. You can find him at www.slumdance.com

There, you will find a link to his documentary "THE GOD who wasn't there"

If you are looking for further reading, check out "The Jesus mysteries", by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy - you can find them at www.timothyfreke.com/

Have fun,

Brian Flemming's Weblog

It's been a while again:(

Just saw the documentary "The God who wasn't there" and was impressed. Most of the time the creator, Brian Flemming, did a great job of informing the viewer on the likelihood that jesus probably didn't exist. He did however did get goofy in one particular instance. The interview with the recent principal of the christian school that he used to attend as a boy seemed to be a little of an ambush - but to Brian's defense I will say that there wasn't much the principal could have done to defend himself from Brian's questions - he couldn't have. I wish Brian could have taken some of his "tone" out of the questioning. All in all it was fantastic piece of work. I would like to see a series that takes a definitive look at the points that Brian raises. The comparative "hero pattern" and the disjointed NT work from Saul of Tarsus (Paul) just to name a couple.

My first impression of the documentary is that Brian follows some of the "jesus" research and reaches the same conclusion that many other have reached - That jesus probably did not exist as the NT portrays (that's my impression, not Brian's). Some of the quotes that Brian slides in his work are just what people need to see - that early fathers of the church didn't believe that jesus was a real person, but existed as part of the mythos of the time & place.

I would recommend this work to anyone interested in thinking for themselves.

Peace and Harmony,
